There is nothing more iconic than a hot iron brand.
For generations, branding has been used across the world and deeply woven into Western heritage as a mark of identity, ownership and pride. A piping hot steel brand is pressed onto hide, singeing the hair and leaving behind a bold black mark that tells a story.
At Country Allure, we honour that tradition by offering hot iron branding as a bespoke finishing touch to our cowhide pieces. It is raw, rugged, Western and beautifully imperfect, just as it should be.
If you are looking for something laser-straight and factory perfect, this may not be for you. If you love individuality, character and a little wild spirit, welcome.
What Is Hot Iron Branding?
Hot iron branding involves heating a solid steel brand and pressing it onto cowhide to burn the hair, leaving a permanent blackened mark.
Each brand is applied freehand by our studio team using a piping hot steel rod. No machines. No laser guides. Just skilled hands and a steady touch.
Because of this:
- Branding will never be identical from piece to piece
- Slight variations in spacing, alignment or depth are part of the charm
- The more characters you request, the greater the chance of slight crookedness or variation
We always do our absolute best to ensure a beautiful finish. However, perfection is not possible when working freehand with heat and natural hide. Hot iron branding is designed to feel authentic, unique and full of character.
Brand Sizes Available
We offer two branding sizes:
- ½ inch brand
- 1.5 inch brand
For most keychains, if you are ordering 1 to 3 characters on a Standard or Jumbo keychain, we will typically use the 1.5 inch brand for the best visual impact.
For bags and purses we will use the 1/2 inch brand unless specifically requested otherwise.
If you have a specific size preference, please include this in the branding preference box when entering your characters or leave a note at checkout.
Choosing Your Characters
You may choose from:
- Letters
- Numbers
- Symbols
When entering symbols, please write the name in full, for example love heart, longhorn or cactus.
Recommended limits:
The more characters you choose, the more likely there may be slight alignment variation due to the freehand process.
If you require a perfectly straight and uniform finish, we recommend seeking a professional laser engraving service instead.
Keychains have character limits listed, we cannot physically fit more (with some exceptions depending on the letters being used, contact us to check if unsure)
